Communication Workers of America (CWA) is showing a documentary film that reveals the perils of the middle class. Film maker Manolo Munoz a videographer and member of the CWA, tells the story of a dramatic eight-day march by union activists for economic justice.
The March Against Corporate Greed
Wednesday, February 29, at 6:30 PM
Spectrum Theatre
290 Delaware Avenue, Albany
Engaged in a bitter contract dispute with corporate giant Verizon, the CWA members began a 156 mile march from Albany to New York City to call attention to the disparities in wealth between its members and Verizon executives. This theme has a familiar ring to it, across the country the 1 percent is attempting to exploit the 99 percent by dismantling collective bargaining rights, which would further increase economic inequalities. Joined by Working Family Party members, other CWA members and Occupy participants along the way the march reaches a crescendo on the Brooklyn Bridge.
Over 35,000 activists from union and non-union organizations proclaim that corporate greed will not be tolerated, that outsourcing our children's future will not be tolerated, and the assault on the middle class will not be tolerated. Admission is free of charge;however donations will be collected to benefit the Occupy Albany movement. So please come and enjoy our film that depicts American Activism at its best.
