University of Northwestern – St. Paul breaks ground for new athletic facilities
ST.PAUL, MN (04/15/2014)(readMedia)-- University of Northwestern – St. Paul will formally break ground on its $11 million outdoor athletic and recreation facility project on Monday, April 28 at 11 a.m. Members of Northwestern's administration, board of trustees, staff and student body will be present to celebrate the event in anticipation of the project completion in fall 2014.
Northwestern's board of trustees approved the construction project in January as part of the institution's vision for campus growth. The Reynolds Field complex renovation includes new artificially turfed fields for the Eagles baseball, softball, soccer and football programs and six regulation size varsity tennis courts. The project will also feature updated bleacher seating for nearly 1,500 fans, locker rooms, and a spirit plaza with restrooms and concessions facilities.
Members of the local community are invited to attend the groundbreaking ceremony, which will take place next to the current baseball field adjacent to the Ericksen Center.
