IS HE DEAD?, directed by Jennifer Hunter, is a fictional account of famed French painter Jean-François Millet and his attempt to increase the value of his work by faking his own death. Originally written by Mark Twain in 1898, the play was not published until 2003 when scholar Shelley Fishkin unearthed it from the archives of the Mark Twain Papers. The play was then adapted by David Ives for its lauded inaugural run in 2007. The combination of Twain's genius wit and Ives' modern comedic sensibilities weaves a delightful romp that is destined to become a comedy classic.
