Upper Hudson Planned Parenthood Successfully Completes Capital Campaign

ALBANY, NY (02/22/2012)(readMedia)-- Upper Hudson Planned Parenthood has announced the successful completion of its Expanding Access* Meeting Needs Capital Campaign. The campaign raised $1,610,435 from grants and local contributors in two years to support the relocation of the UHPP administrative offices and Albany health center from Lark Street to 855 Central Avenue.

The expanded space enables UHPP to see more patients and educate more young people in a comfortable and client-oriented environment. The new 18,000 square foot Central Avenue location has been lauded as an exceptional health center that combines warmth and comfort with state of the art architecture and modern medical service. The new facility includes a dedicated teen "drop in" space and a large capacity Board room that can accommodate all 50 UHPP employees.

McGeown, President and CEO of UHPP. "Our beautiful and modern new facility finally matches the compassionate and high quality service that we have always provided."

Some of UHPP's most generous and longstanding donors made a significant investment of their time and talent as members of our Capital Campaign Steering Committee. Phoebe Powell Bender and Charles M. Liddle, III served as Honorary Co-Chairs and Mary C. Kahl served as Campaign Chair. Campaign Steering Committee members included Susan Filipp, Sherry Gold, Shirley Gordon, Esther Lewis, Barbara Manning, Geoffrey Moore, Sherry Putney, and Beth Scher.

Upper Hudson Planned Parenthood is a non-profit organization serving Albany, Columbia, Greene and Rensselaer counties. Each year, approximately 14,000 patients make more than 24,000 visits to UHPP health centers in Albany, Hudson and Troy. UHPP provides a wide range of reproductive health services including annual GYN exams including PAP tests, breast exams and self-exam instruction, colposcopy, cryosurgery and LEEP, birth control information and supplies, Emergency Contraception, pregnancy testing and options counseling, first trimester abortion (medication and surgical), adoption and prenatal referrals, and more.
