ALBANY, NY (01/21/2013)(readMedia)-- Chelly Hegan, President/CEO of Upper Hudson Planned Parenthood, released the following statement today welcoming President Barack Obama's second inauguration:

"President Obama's inauguration represents a resounding victory for women, women's health, and women's economic security. Americans spoke loud and clear in November - they believe women should have access to affordable health care and be able to make their own medical decisions, without interference from politicians.

"Unfortunately, some politicians just did not get this message, and they're right back to their attacks on women's health. In just the first day of the 113th Congress, two bills were introduced to limit women's access to the wide range of preventive health care services that Planned Parenthood health centers provide, including cancer screenings, breast exams and birth control.

"As a trusted provider of quality, preventive health care, [insert affiliate name] - and the over 750 affiliate Planned Parenthood health centers across the country - stand ready to serve the millions of people who will soon have access to health care under the Affordable Care Act. We look forward to working with President Obama and his administration to ensure that millions more Americans can get the health care they need."
