CLIVE, IA (10/29/2012)(readMedia)-- The Iowa Association of Realtors® (IAR) announced Mason City Realtor® Brian Carlson as the 2012 L. Martin Lee Political Involvement Award winner. The IAR presented the honor and other special awards at its Inaugural Gala held in September in Ames.

This award, which recognizes an individual who has significantly advanced the legislative agenda of the IAR through political involvement, was named after IAR's longtime chief executive officer, L. Martin Lee.

Carlson is the Broker/Owner of EXIT Realty in Mason City and has been involved in real estate sales since 1997. He is very active in the Iowa Association of Realtors®. He has served as regional vice president for numerous years, a member of the legislative committee and a member of IAR's Advisory Resource Center Committee. Brian is very active in the Realtors® Political Action Committee (RPAC), and has been an RPAC contributor since 1997. Carlson's contributions helped make 2012 one of the most successful years ever for RPAC in Iowa.

He has also held numerous leadership roles on his local board, the Greater Mason City Board of Realtors®, including board president in 2001-2002.

"Brian is a solid leader who has made many contributions to the IAR over the years," says Dale Gross, president of the IAR. "However, this past year, he went above and beyond as a champion for Realtor® and homeownership issues. It was exciting to see his work and how he involved colleagues in the process."

"Being involved in protecting homeownership and real property ownership rights is very important to me," says Carlson. "To do that, we, as Realtors® need to be involved in the process, either financially or politically. Being recognized by my peers as a leader in this area is very humbling."

Carlson has been a leader in his community as well. He has served on several boards and committees at Trinity Lutheran Church and is presently involved in the Worship Team. He has served as a member of the Mason City Chamber of Commerce, Visit Mason City Convention and Visitors Bureau, and North Iowa Fair Board.
