R. Michael Knapp Receives 2013 L. Martin Lee Award from the Iowa Association of Realtors®

CLIVE, IA (10/28/2013)(readMedia)-- The Iowa Association of Realtors® (IAR) announced R. Michael Knapp of Des Moines, the 2013 L. Martin Lee Political Involvement Award recipient. The IAR presented Knapp with the prestigious award at the state convention held in Altoona this September.

Knapp graduated from the University of Iowa in 1972, and immediately entered the real estate profession as a sales agent for Iowa Realty Co., Inc. in Des Moines. He has been serving as President and CEO since 1992. In the past 40 years, he has also been Manager, General Manager and Senior Vice President.

Knapp has been heavily involved with the legislative process itself, and has encouraged his associates to get involved as well. He has invested a great amount of effort, time and money into his profession of real estate. Subsequently, he was inducted into the Realtors® Political Action Committee (RPAC) Hall of Fame at the National Association of Realtors® due to his substantial contributions into his chosen profession.

Knapp has been heavily involved with his local association, the Des Moines Area Association of Realtors® (DMAAR). He has served as a member of the DMAAR Realtors® Foundation Board and President of the association. In 1990 he was awarded the DMAAR Realtor® of the Year.

Knapp has showed a commitment to his community throughout his career through various projects, including serving as a former President of the Variety Club of Iowa.

Knapp currently lives in Des Moines with his wife, Ellyn. They are the parents/grandparents of two daughters and two grandchildren.
