CLIVE, IA (10/25/2013)(readMedia)-- The Iowa Association of Realtors® (IAR) recently announced Kurt Schade of Des Moines as the 2013 Realtor® of the Year. The IAR presented the honor and other special awards at its Inaugural Gala on Sept. 18 in Altoona.

Schade has been a licensed Realtor® since 1977 and has more than 35 years experience in real estate, home building and appraising. He has been a long-time, dedicated leader in the Des Moines community, and has been a Realtor® associate at Coldwell Banker Mid-America Group, Realtors® in West Des Moines for the past 16 years.

He has been an active member of the IAR for decades, serving as board president in 2010-2011, and on the legislative, public policy, coaching and mentoring, personnel, and legal reference committees and task forces.

Schade is also very active in the Des Moines Area Association of Realtors® (DMAAR), his local board. He has held a number of leadership positions over the years, including board president in 2009-2010 and received the DMAAR Realtor® Salesperson of the Year Award in 2005.

He has served on the Board of the Realtor® Foundation of Iowa as well as the National Association of Realtors® Membership Policy and Board Jurisdiction Committee. Schade has earned several of the real estate industry's highest professional designations including Certified Residential Specialist, Certified New Homes Specialist and Certified Home marketing Specialist.

From his farm boy roots in Northwest Iowa, to his favorite hobby (owning Schade Creek Vineyard & Winery in Waukee), Schade says this award was one of his most memorable honors. "I am very proud to be a part of such an elite group of esteemed colleagues," says Schade.
