GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA (11/10/2010)(readMedia)-- Christine Staropoli, MS, RHIA, CCS, of Perkasie, Pa., received the 2010 Community Outreach Award from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).

The Community Outreach Award recognizes Health Information Management (HIM) professionals who exemplify leadership in promoting consumer health awareness and advocacy through dedicated volunteer service, innovative outreach and a spirit of collaboration and teamwork.

Staropoli is an assistant professor and the program director for Gwynedd-Mercy College's HIM program. She promotes the personal health information campaign, volunteering at career fairs and orchestrating other activities.

Staropoli's dedication to both her profession and the education of HIM is exhibited through the impact she has in her community. For two years, she attended the annual state meeting for the Pennsylvania School Counselors Association. While there, she represented the Pennsylvania branch of AHIMA to educate the school counselors about HIT/HIM careers and its opportunities.
