ST.PAUL, MN (11/15/2011)(readMedia)-- Six Northwestern College music students recently performed and named finalists at the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Minnesota State Auditions. Anthony Potts, son of Michael & Ann Potts of Fargo, received Second Place in the college men through age 18 division. Potts is a freshman majoring in Music at Northwestern. He is a 2011 graduate of Fargo North High School.
Students were accompanied by Northwestern voice teachers Carol Eikum, Doreen Hutchings, and Catherine Larson. NATS audition participation has become a tradition in the Northwestern Music department for a number of years, providing students an opportunity to congregate with other area musicians and develop their knowledge and learning in the field.

About NATS/Student Auditions
Each year NATS' chapters and regions host Student Auditions, an experience where singers perform and receive written feedback about their performances. At these events singers meet and hear other singers, NATS teachers get to know their colleagues better, and everyone has the chance to hear a variety of songs.
Typically the event begins with a preliminary round, in which students sing only for a panel of adjudicators and perhaps a small audience. Finalists in the adjudications usually perform again for everyone present, and many chapters and regions offer prizes for their winners.
