ALBANY, NY (11/07/2014)(readMedia)-- BLOW-UP (United Kingdom/Italy, 1966, 111 minutes, color, directed by Michelangelo Antonioni) will be shown on Friday, November 21, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. in Page Hall, 135 Western Avenue, on the University at Albany's downtown campus. Cosponsored by the New York State Writers Institute and UAlbany's Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures as part of its Classic Film Series, the screening is free and open to the public.

Based on a story by Argentine fiction writer Julio Cortázar (1914-1984), one of the most admired and innovative writers of the 20th century, BLOW-UP won the Palme d'Or at Cannes and received Oscar nominations for Best Director and Best Screenplay. A "mod" fashion photographer believes he has unwittingly captured a murder on film during a photo shoot in a London park. The film stars Vanessa Redgrave, Sarah Miles, and David Hemmings. The film was scored by jazz pianist Herbie Hancock.
