ALBANY, NY (03/16/2015)(readMedia)-- MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING (United Kingdom/United States, 1993, 111 minutes, color, directed by Kenneth Branagh) will be shown on Friday, April 10, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. in Page Hall, 135 Western Avenue, on the University at Albany's downtown campus. Sponsored by the New York State Writers Institute as part of its Classic Film Series, the screening is free and open to the public.

Nominated for the Palme d'Or at Cannes, this adaptation of Shakespeare's dark comedy was hailed by the New York Times as "triumphantly romantic, comic and, most surprising of all, emotionally alive." The film stars Kate Beckinsale, Emma Thompson, Kenneth Branagh, Keanu Reeves, and Denzel Washington.

The screening is in association with the upcoming appearance of Tina Packer, founder of Shakespeare & Company in Lenox, Massachusetts, and author of the new book Women of Will: Following the Feminine in Shakespeare's Plays (2015). On Monday, April 13, Packer will hold an informal seminar at 4:15 p.m. in Campus Center Room 375 on the UAlbany uptown campus, and will present The Burian Lecture at 8:00 p.m. in the Studio Theatre, Performing Arts Center, on the UAlbany uptown campus.
