ALBANY, NY (04/07/2011)(readMedia)-- JEALOUSY (VARIETÉ , Germany, 1925, 72 minutes, b/w, silent with live piano accompaniment by Mike Shiffer, directed by Ewald André Dupont) will be shown on Friday, April 29 at 7:30 p.m. in Page Hall, 135 Western Avenue, on the University at Albany's downtown campus. Sponsored by the New York State Writers Institute, the screening is free and open to the public.
A dazzling work of German Expressionist cinema, this silent film features a trio of acrobats enmeshed in a love triangle. Jealousies lead, inevitably, to murder. The story is told as a series of recollections by the killer himself (played by Emil Jannings) as he explains the events that led to his crime.
