ST.PAUL, MN (10/18/2010)(readMedia)-- Northwestern College (Minnesota) alumnus Forrest Williams, founder of Northside Calvary Memorial Church in Racine, recently received the 2010 Distinguished Alumnus of the Year award. Williams graduated from Northwestern in 1957 with a degree in Bible.
From 1958–1960 Williams was assistant to the president of Northwestern College, after which he served in various ministry roles, primarily at Calvary Memorial Church in Racine, Wis. He served as a youth speaker and evangelist in camps and churches throughout the Midwest, which led to the founding of Camp Life, a summer camp ministry serving youth in Wisconsin and Northern Illinois. Williams is the founder of Grace Chapel, an inner-city church in Minneapolis, as well as Northside Calvary Memorial Church in Racine, Wis. He served as president of Calvary College in Kentucky from 1968–1970 and completed a Doctor of Ministry degree from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in 1983.
Since 1987, he and Rachel have traveled with scores of senior-high students to over 15 countries through their "Mission Seminar" program, speaking to missionaries and international Christians. The Williamses have four children and ten grandchildren.
The Distinguished Alumnus Award recognizes and honors an alumnus of Northwestern College who has demonstrated God-honoring leadership in the home, church, community, and in his/her profession.
