Scott Wendl of Des Moines Receives Political Involvement Award from the Iowa Association of Realtors®

CLIVE, IA (10/11/2011)(readMedia)-- The Iowa Association of Realtors® (IAR) announced Des Moines Realtor® Scott Wendl as the 2011 L. Martin Lee Political Involvement Award winner. The IAR presented the honor and other special awards at its Inaugural Gala held in September in West Des Moines.
Wendl is an agent at RE/MAX Real Estate Group in Des Moines and has been a licensed Realtor® in Iowa since 1996. He is extremely active in the IAR, serving as chair of the Legislative Committee for the past four years and as regional vice president for the past six years. He has been a member of the Executive Committee, Public Policy Committee and Board of Directors. He has also been a Sterling "R" Realtor® Political Action Committee (RPAC) contributor for five years.
"Scott Wendl is a dedicated and solid leader who is willing to take risks and work hard. He views challenges as opportunities, and strives to create win-win solutions. If he is involved in a project or a committee, it is successful," says Kurt Schade, president of the IAR.
Wendl is also very active in his local board, the Des Moines Area Association of Realtors® (DMAAR). He will serve as DMAAR's 2nd vice president in 2012 and president in 2014. He also received the 2010 DMAAR Realtor® Salesperson of the Year.
In addition, Wendl served as president of the Iowa Chapter of the Council of Residential Specialists (CRS) in 2009, and received the Iowa CRS of the Year Award in 2007. He holds several of the real estate field's highest professional designations, including Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR), Certified Real Estate Brokerage Manager (CRB), Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), Graduate Realtor® Institute (GRI) and ePro.
From 1988-1994 Wendl served in the Army Reserve and National Guard during Operation Desert Storm. He also gives much time and energy to the Iowa Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. He helped to raise more than $5,000 for the 2011 Team in Training, as well as funds for the Des Moines Man of the Year Award for the past six years.
Wendl was very happy to receive the prestigious award, which recognizes an individual who has significantly advanced the legislative agenda of the IAR through political involvement. "I have always enjoyed giving back to a profession that has been good to me over the years," says Wendl. The award, which was first presented in 2002, was named after IAR's chief executive officer at that time, L. Martin Lee.
