"The Middleman" to be Screened on October 23, 2009

ALBANY, NY (10/07/2009)(readMedia)-- "The Middleman" ("Jana aranya," India, 1976, 131 minutes, b/w, in Bengali with English subtitles, directed by Satyajit Ray) will be shown on Friday, October 23 at 7:30 p.m. in the Recital Hall, Performing Arts Center, on the University at Albany's uptown campus. Sponsored by the New York State Writers Institute, the screening is free and open to the public.

An ambitious young man, eager to please his father, resorts to immoral tactics in order to succeed in business as a middleman in this rarely-screened classic by Satyajit Ray, one of world cinema's most acclaimed directors.
