"Wise Blood" to be Screened on October 30, 2009

Directed by John Huston and based on the novel by Flannery O'Connor

ALBANY, NY (10/14/2009)(readMedia)-- "Wise Blood" (United States/West Germany, 1979, 108 minutes, color, directed by John Huston) will be shown on Friday, October 30 at 7:30 p.m. in Page Hall, 135 Western Avenue, on the University at Albany's downtown campus. Sponsored by the New York State Writers Institute, the screening is free and open to the public.

Flannery O'Connor's "Southern gothic" universe comes to life in this sharp and satiric adaptation of her eponymous 1952 novel. The film moves in and out of the life of a grifter-turned-preacher, with exotically comic and at times terrifying characters met along the way.
