David Gersten is an influential artist, architect, writer, educator, TED speaker, motivational thinker, former dean of architecture at Cooper Union, and originator of the concept of "spatial literacy"- an understanding of the profound impact of our surroundings on personal and collective experiences.
In 2013, Gersten founded Arts Letters & Numbers, a nonprofit arts, education, and publishing organization dedicated to creating creative exchanges across a wide range of disciplines including architecture, visual arts, theatre arts, film, music, humanities, sciences, and social sciences. The organization is based at The Mill, a repurposed factory in Averill Park that hosts a variety of art installations, immersion workshops and creative happenings.
Presented by the University at Albany College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) in association with the NYS Writers Institute. CAS welcomes a second guest speaker, NOVA producer Melanie Wallace, to UAlbany on Monday, October 22.
