Farmers Market Celebrating 75th Anniversary with Special Events

MENANDS, NY (04/28/2008)(readMedia)-- The Capital District Farmers Market in Menands is celebrating their 75th anniversary this year. The 25 acre complex, where numerous agricultural related businesses are located, is owned and operated by a cooperative of farmers.
The cooperative began their 75th year by completely rehabilitating the oldest building at the market. The $300,000 projected was completed April 1 and is now home to DNT Express, a wine transport company delivering to points throughout upstate New York.
Opening Day for the Saturday Farmers Market is this Saturday, May 3. The first Saturday market of the year will not only feature numerous farmers selling plants and flowers, but there will also be a community garage sale where patrons can hunt for treasures. FREE coffee, and live entertainment by Rebecca Angel and Friends will help make this Saturday extra special. The Farmers Market in Menands has special events planned for every month right through the end of October.
