Menands Farmers Market Healthy Eating Day - September 6

MENANDS, NY (09/03/2008)(readMedia)-- This Saturday, September 6, is an opportunity to meet the farmers who grow the food you eat every day, sample fresh cooked local vegetables, pick up some favorite healthy eating recipes, and buy the freshest locally grown produce. The event will be held, rain or shine, under the shed pavilion at the Farmers Market in Menands, and as usual, there is plenty of easy free parking and no charge for admission.

In addition to numerous farmers offering the best of the season, fresh baked goods, maple syrup, honey, and homemade jams and jellies will be available. Crafters will also be at the market with some great handmade jewelry.

Healthy Eating Day is an extra event added to the market schedule this year thanks to the support of Farm Family Insurance, the New York Farm Bureau, and Burke & Miller, a Farm Family Agent. The Farm Family group of insurance companies, headquartered in Glenmont, offers life insurance and specialized property and casualty insurance to agribusiness and residents of rural and suburban communities in the Northeastern United States. The New York Farm Bureau is a non-governmental, volunteer organization financed and controlled by families for the purpose of solving economic and public policy issues challenging the agricultural industry.
