Farmers Market Harvest Festival Saturday
Pie Contest, Hayrides, Square Dancing
MENANDS, NY (09/16/2008)(readMedia)-- It's Harvest Festival time at the Capital District Farmers Market in Menands. This Saturday farmers will line the shed pavilion to offer all the bounty of the season from 8 AM to 2 PM and patrons can take advantage of the day to pick from the freshest fruits and vegetables available.
In addition to the freshest produce there will be fresh baked goods, honey, maple syrup, sauces, cheese, and other great foods. And, as you might expect this time of year, there will be plenty of apples, cider, pumpkins, and mums.
One highlight of the day will be a pie contest. Participants will be able to submit homemade pies to compete for prizes. To be included you must register in advance. Judges will include WNYT News Anchor Phil Bayly and Menands Mayor Tom Coates.
There will also be square dancing from 9 to 10 AM and hayrides starting at 10.
The Farmers Market in Menands is located at 381 Broadway, that's Route 32 just south of Route 378 in Menands. Since the event will be under cover, it will be held rain or shine.
