Japanese film "Nobody Knows" to be screened April 17, 2015

ALBANY, NY (03/25/2015)(readMedia)-- NOBODY KNOWS (DARE MO SHIRANAI, Japan, 2004, 141 minutes, color, in Japanese with English subtitles, directed by Hirokazu Koreeda) will be shown on Friday, April 17, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. in Page Hall, 135 Western Avenue, on the University at Albany's downtown campus. Sponsored by the New York State Writers Institute as part of its Classic Film Series, the screening is free and open to the public.

Barely into his teens, performer Yƻya Yagira won the Best Actor award at Cannes for his portrayal of a boy who raises his young siblings in a Tokyo apartment after their mother abandons them. Michael Wilmington of the Chicago Tribune called the film, "one of those special movies that can give us a new way of seeing."
