CLIVE, IA (08/11/2011)(readMedia)-- Future home buyers across Iowa may not have access to affordable mortgages, may not be able to deduct mortgage interest and may not be able to get flood insurance. These are some of the issues the National Association of Realtors® (NAR) and the Iowa Association of Realtors® (IAR) want Iowa residents to know about as the Home Ownership Matters Bus Tour pulls into town this week.
The Home Ownership Matters Bus will be at Lowe's at 1700 50th Street in West Des Moines on August 12 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Members of the public can visit with state Realtor® leaders about the issues currently being debated in Congress that may affect their ability to buy, sell or own a home in the future. Consumers may also register for a chance to win a $500 Lowe's gift card.
"We want to make sure that people understand what's at stake with some of the legislation being discussed in Washington," said Kurt Schade, president of the Iowa Association of Realtors®. "Whether you own a home today or want to own a home someday in the future, it's important for all of us to engage on these extremely important issues."
This event is part of NAR's Home Ownership Matters nationwide bus tour. The bus is currently touring the country, giving people the opportunity to make their voices heard about the housing issues that matter most to them. Ongoing tour news and information may be found at www.houselogic.com/bus. HouseLogic is a free source of information from NAR that helps home owners maintain and enhance the value of their homes and engage in issues that affect their local communities.
