Silent Film "Little Old New York" to be Screened on April 23, 2010

ALBANY, NY (04/07/2010)(readMedia)-- "Little Old New York" (United States, 1923, 106 minutes, b/w, directed by Sidney Olcott, silent with live piano accompaniment provided by Mike Schiffer) will be shown on Friday, April 23 at 7:30 p.m. in Page Hall, 135 Western Avenue, on the University at Albany's downtown campus. Sponsored by the New York State Writers Institute, the screening is free and open to the public.
An Irish immigrant lass (played by Marion Davies) comes to New York City disguised as a boy to claim her dead brother's inheritance in this charming historical drama set against the backdrop of real events, including the 1807 launch of Robert Fulton's steamboat on the Hudson River.
