ALBANY, NY (09/17/2015)(readMedia)-- THE TOLL OF THE SEA (United States, 1922, 54 minutes, color, directed by Chester M. Franklin, SILENT with live musical accompaniment by Mike Schiffer) will be shown on Friday, October 2, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. in Page Hall, 135 Western Avenue, on the University at Albany's downtown campus. Sponsored by the New York State Writers Institute as part of its Classic Film Series, the screening is free and open to the public.

The first film to use two-strip Technicolor, this technical classic stars pioneering Chinese-American actress Anna May Wong as a Chinese woman who rescues and falls in love with a shipwrecked American seaman. Writer Frances Marion adapted her own short story, loosely based on Puccini's opera Madame Butterfly, for the big screen.
