Adirondack Gateway Council Receives $750,000 HUD Sustainable Regional Planning Grant

GLENS FALLS, NY (11/21/2011)(readMedia)-- Glens Falls Mayor Diamond who serves as Chair of the Adirondack Gateway Council has announced that the Gateway Council has received a federal HUD Regional Sustainable Planning Grant in the amount of $750,000.

Chairman Diamond thanked the "efforts of our federal officials Senator Charles Schumer, Congressman Chris Gibson and Senator Gillibrand for their enthusiastic support for this application"

The Adirondack Gateway Council (3 Counties Warren, Washington and Northern Saratoga) through this grant will address the inter-related challenges of the three county area in terms of housing, transportation, environmental impact, economic and workforce development, telecommunications/broadband access, education, land use, energy use, infrastructure, social inequalities, and health/wellness faced by the Adirondack Gateway Region.

The outcomes of the process will include a Regional Profile, series of GIS maps, library and inventory of all local planning documents, economic development strategy, infrastructure plan, housing needs analysis and plan, alignment with the MPO transportation plans, environmental quality improvement plan, dedicated website, and strategy for measuring performance through sustainability data indicators
