Glens Falls Receives $200,000 Grant from EPA

Job Training Funds to assist the Region

GLENS FALLS, NY (06/21/2012)(readMedia)-- Glens Falls Mayor Jack Diamond stated that today's announcement by EPA of the $200,000 grant for job training is the next step in putting the newly established Local 773 Regional Job Training Center at Tech Meadows on the map -"GLENS FALLS IS OPEN FOR BUSINESS"

Mayor Diamond thanked the advocacy and efforts of Senator Schumer for his leadership and his continued support for this region in securing this grant.

Senator Schumer in February visited Tech Meadows site where he expressed support for this federal Environmental Protection Agency "Brownfields Job Training Program Grant"

Additional support for the project came from US Senator Gillibrand, State Senator Betty Little, Governor Cuomo's Office, Department of Labor and other officials .

This grant according to Mayor Diamond will provide training for workers for projects such as the Hudson River dredging project, workers in removing hazardous materials such as lead paint and asbestos from older buildings that are being redeveloped, as well as clean room technology center for jobs at Global and medcial device firms.

Construction of the new training center is now underway at Tech Meadows site

Tech Meadows just a half a mile from Northway Exit 18, has other parcels ready for development.

Senator Schumer was instrumental in securing $765,000 in federal Economic Development Administration funding that the LDC is using to install water, sewer and utility infrastructure at Tech Meadows. Senator Little assisted in obtaining infrastructure funding through the Empire State Development Corproration
