Governor Cuomo Makes Grant Announcement

GLENS FALLS, NY (03/21/2012)(readMedia)-- Chairman Jack Diamond of the Greater Glens Falls Local Development Corporation, in announcing the receipt of a $74,700 (Step 1) Warren Street Brownfield Opportunity Program along this corridor has thanked Governor Andrew Cuomo and Secretary of State Cesar Perales for their effort, support and interest in our City .

This project will undertake a review of existing land uses including underutilized properties , buildings and their conditions on Warren Street together with the adjacent side streets including opportunities along Feeder Canal/County bikeway with devlopment of anupdated revitalization plans . This area includes properties beginning at Bank Square in the cental business east to the City's eastern boundary. While some progress has occurred in this corridor-more needs to be done in this area stated Mayor Diamond.

Mayor Diamond said that this grant together with the recently awarded Department of State Local Water Front Grant "will provide a wonderful opportunity for the City to develop a comprehensive revitalization vision and plan from the eastern boundary of city along Warren Street all the way to Pruyn's Island " . Most importantly, these grants will assist the Glens Falls Economic Development Group in developing public private partnerships necessary to leverage investment in development projects that will assist in the revitalization of this area of Glens Falls according to Mayor Diamond
