Glens Falls Mayor Diamond Congratulates Governor Cuomo on Passage of Major Pension Reform Legislation.

Applauds Governor's Efforts

GLENS FALLS, NY (03/15/2012)(readMedia)-- Glens Falls Mayor Jack Diamond has applauded the leadership efforts of Governor Cuomo and the legislature (Senator Little and Assemblywoman Sayward)for passage of this major pension reform.

Under the adopted measure, there will be a savings of more than $80 Billions to New York State and local municipalities over the next 30 years .

In Glens Falls pension costs have increased in 2009 from $ 1.1Million to $$1.4M in 2012 (total increase of $ 300,000)

Mayor Diamond praised the Governor in his perseverance in moving this legislation forward this legislative session which will help stabilize pension cost for Glens Falls and other localities while continuing to provide appropriate level of benefits to employees upon their retirement .

We concur with Governor Cuomo that taxes remain too high in New York and all levels of government must continue to do more to reduce the impact to our local homeowner and business person.
