Glens Falls Endorses Capital Regional Economic Development Council

Greater Glens Falls Area has formed a regional coalition

GLENS FALLS, NY (07/29/2011)(readMedia)-- Glens Falls Mayor Jack Diamond has pledged his support to the Governor and the 8 County Capital Region Econominc Development tn Council that has been formed for this region.

In anticipation of this 8 County Regional creation , the municipalities in the greater Glens Falls area have formed the Adirondack Gateway Council which will act as a liaison and work with Governor's Council in advocating projects and issues for this area, according to Diamond.

Mayor Diamond stated that "the Adirondack Gateway Council will carry forth the area's priority projects to this council, and to elected officials at the State and Federal level."

Some of the issues that have been identified by the Gateway council include funding for infrastructure improvements including extension of sewer and water , additional affordable housing , expansion of transportation needs within the communities, increased broad ban access and additional regional coordinated planning and economic development . The organization has been meeting for nearly a year and includes communities in Northern Saratoga County, Warren and Washington Counties .(Some of the Communities included with AGC are Town of Chester, Village of Lake George, Town of Corinth Hadley, Glens Falls, South Glens Falls, Moreau, Town and village of Fort Edward, Town of Kingsbury, Village of Hudson falls, Town of Easton
